RONALD Pfumbidzai says he is happy to have scored his first goal for Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.
Pfumbidzai did his trademark “teacher-students” celebration, in the Chilli Boys’ 1-1 draw with SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
The former CAPS United left-back brilliantly headed home a Siphelele Luthuli free-kick, in the 17th minute, to give Daine Klate’s men the lead.
“I’m so happy to have scored that goal for my team.
“It’s always nice to be back on the field of play after such a long time and scoring makes it more fun,” he said.
Pfumbidzai’s opener was then cancelled out by Bradley Grobler, just after the hour mark.
“The happiness was short-lived because we wanted to win the game, but we will take the point.
“It’s the beginning of the season so we will try to collect any points we can so that we will be okay at the end of the season.
“I don’t have many targets, but I just want to have an injury-free season and to play as many games as I can.
“I also want to help my team achieve its targets.
“To achieve that, I think, we just need to stay focused and know what we want.
“We need to work as a team because we want to win games and probably finish in a better position than last season,” he said.
The match ended in drama as SuperSport United goalkeeper, Ricardo Goss, was shown a straight red card for slapping Pfumbidzai.
“It was a heavy punch and l wasn’t expecting it from him and right now ndakatozvimba shaya.
“But, it’s nothing personal, we know these things are part of the game.
“There are emotions involved in games. Emotions are high during play.
“It’s a lesson learnt for him and I’m sure he will learn from it and from my side there’s no bad blood because I know that it can happen to anyone,” he said.
