Ronnie scores in lost cause

LEFT-BACK Ronald Pfumbidzai scored his second goal for Chippa United in their 2-3 loss to Golden Arrows in the DStv Premier Soccer League in South Africa yesterday.

The former CAPS United defender netted his first goal for the Daine Klate-coached side in their 1-1 draw with SuperSport United last month.

He reduced Chippa’s deficit yesterday, in the 67th minute, when he pounced on a spill by the Arrows goalkeeper and fired home.

“My season has been okay. It started well because I have been getting game time.

“I need to work harder so that I can play as much as I want.

“I’m also happy that my team has been doing well in the league and we have managed to win some games and that’s something that makes us happy as a team,” he said.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic star added:

“I know it’s not easy but I promise to do my best and will just do all I am required to do, as a player, if given a chance to play.

“I can’t predict the coach’s decision, but if I play I will make sure that I put maximum effort into helping the team achieve its goals and success.

“I think it’s up to everyone to give his level best because we are a team of great players who can do a great job for the team.”

Pfumbidzai is the only Zimbabwean player to score in the DStv Premiership so far.
