This is despite Mususa’s 12-month ban from all football related activities imposed by the Zifa Central Region disciplinary committee last year for his role in the registration of former Hardbody player, Tatenda Chingara.
Chingara was at the centre of the promotional dispute in the Zifa Central Region which pitted eventual winners Hardbody and Tripple B and the matter was only resolved by the Commercial Arbitration Centre.
The provincial governing body presided over the Gafa elections a fortnight ago where three candidates who were vying for different posts in the elections were disqualified but surprisingly Mususa whose case was highly publicised in the media was given the green light to contest the elections.
Mususa is now Gafa’s board member fixtures and during the league’s Africa Day Trophy he was in charge of running the tournament.
The soccer administrator, who at the time was an executive member of the now defunct Gweru Pirates, was slapped with the ban together with coach Jeremiah Neganda and former Hardbody treasurer, Max Mugandani, for being the architects behind the illegal registration of Chingara.
However, Mugandani is now secretary of Zifa Central Soccer League side MSU after he successfully appealed to the Zifa Appeals Committee against the Reginald Chidawanyika-led Central Region disciplinary committee decision.
In an interview with Chronicle Sport soon after Mugandani’s ban had been set aside in February, Zifa legal advisor, Ralph Maganga, said the sanctions against Mususa and Neganda remained in force until they appeal against the ruling.
“If they want to be cleared they have to appeal against the (Zifa Central Region disciplinary committee) ruling otherwise that verdict is still binding,” Maganga said.
Contacted for comment Chishanga professed ignorance and said his board had assumed that Mususa’s ban had been lifted since he was facing the same charges with the MSU secretary who had been cleared of any wrong-doing.
“We were made to understand that he was cleared when Mugandani’s ban was lifted since they had the same charge sheet. However, if that is the case we will nullify his election until he clears himself,” Chishanga said.
Efforts to get a comment from Mususa were futile as he was not picking up his phone.
