A BITTER dispute over an abortion has led to a restraining order being filed in the Harare Civil Court.
Philis Masunga sought a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Innocent Madamombe, after a heated argument over an abortion.
Masunga claimed Madamombe has been harassing her at her workplace, repeatedly calling her a prostitute, and accusing her of stealing from her bosses.
“Madamombe keeps coming at my workplace yelling at me and making awful accusations against me which is disrupting my work.
“My bosses no longer trust me as he has tarnished my image by calling me a thief. He also broke into my house and took my passport and driver’s licence without my consent,” she said.
However, Madamombe said he was lured to invest US$300 into a business in which Masunga invested US$50.
“We agreed to share the profits but Masunga did not uphold her end of the deal, the first month we shared the profits equally but the following month she did not give me my share claiming she had used the money to add to the stock for Christmas.
“After two months, when she was supposed to give me my profits, she called me saying she had been arrested by her boss claiming she was stealing from her.
‘I was okay with her keeping the money but, after she decided to have an abortion without my knowledge I decided to ask for the money I had invested in the business.”
The magistrate ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Masunga’s life was in danger but rather the relationship deteriorated because of irreconcilable differences and failed business venture.
The magistrate ordered Masunga to pay Madamombe his money.
