NEW kids on the block, Mpopoma Sports Academy (MPOSA), made a grand entrance into the big leagues — and they did it in style!

In their debut match on Saturday at Bulawayo Chiefs Village, MPOSA stunned fans and foes alike with a 2-1 upset over Highlanders Royals, proving they’re not here to make up numbers — they’re here to win!

It took just six minutes for Sandra Mhlanga to rattle the net and set the tone. Then, just before the break, Blessed Gumede showed ice-cold composure to double the lead with a clinical strike that left Royals reeling.

Despite a flurry of saves from Royals keeper Unathi Moyo, who put on a brave fight between the posts, the damage was done. Highlanders Royals managed to pull one back in the 78th minute, but the comeback was too little, too late.

MPOSA head coach Evans Netha wasn’t entirely surprised by the result.

“What is important now is three points,” he said. “We need to grind points as we are going to get tougher games as we progress.”

Confident, focused, and already making noise, MPOSA is sending a message to the league — underestimate us at your peril.

With momentum on their side, all eyes are on their next clash. Was it a fluke? Not a chance.

MPOSA has landed — and the league will never be the same!
