Old Hararians are expected to host Western Panthers in the only league rugby match in the capital this weekend.
Harare Sports Club and Old Georgians will be on the road.
Former champions Old Georgians travel to Bulawayo where they have a date against Old Miltonians while defending champions Sports Club face struggling Zvishavane Bulls at McAdam Rugby Ground in Zvishavane.
The same venue will also see Gweru Sports Club taking on struggling Bulawayo giants Mat’land Warriors who, two weeks ago, were involved in a road accident on their way to Harare for an outstanding fixture against Sports Club.
The league was supposed to resume next weekend as the league chiefs had seen it necessary to give way for the Sables who were expected to play in international assignments.
But all the Sables’ games were cancelled resulting in the league resuming this weekend.
Old Georgians are the only side in the league yet to taste defeat and are on top of the world after getting the better of two big rivals Sports Club and Old Boys with a total of 24 points from their five games.
Consistent as they have been so far, the Dragons are hoping to carry on with their good form and team work has largely been the driving force in Grant Mitchell’s side.
They are expected to get the better of Old Miltonians.
The Old boys are in second place having suffered only one defeat at the hands of the Dragons and are inspired by the fact that they managed to beat Sports Club for the first time in six years following the appointment of Cyprian “Supa” Mandenge as coach.
The Old Boys have the best scoring records as they have scored 239 points in the five games while conceding 80 and are five points behind Old Georgians on the log standings.
Driven by captain and flyhalf Tichafara Makwanya, who is leading from the front, 50 of the points came from the skipper, who is the top points’ scorer in the league with three tries, five penalties and 10 conversions.
Western Panther’s Mayibongwe Ncube is second on the individual standings but lies 11 points adrift having managed three tries and 12 conversions.
Third-placed Sports Club winger, Stephan Hunduza, scored five tries to earn his 25 points — making him the highest try scorer.
Sports Club are sitting on number four and have a game in hand with 12 points from four games and have managed to collect an average of a bonus point from each of the games they have played while their two wins have given them another eight points.
Even a win against bottom-placed Zvishavane Bulls at the weekend will not have much bearing on their standing as they are six points behind fourth-placed Western Panthers who have collected 18 points from five games with one defeat and four wins.
Panthers are the only side from the Matabeleland region in the top four.
The Warriors have been a pale shadow of themselves and were unfortunate to be involved in an accident two weeks ago after winning only one of their four games so far with a total of seven points.
Fixtures: Old Hararians v Western Panthers (Old Hararians 3pm), Zvishavane Bulls v Harare Sports Club (McAdam Rugby Ground 3.30pm), Gweru Sports Club v Mat’land Warriors (McAdam Rugby Ground 2pm), Old Miltonians v Old Georgians (Hartsfield Rugby Grounds 3pm).
