Ruling party welcomes BNC

The ruling Zanu-PF has welcomed the inaugural Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission that will be held in Harare today as a confirmation of strong ties between the two nations.

In a statement yesterday, the ruling party’s secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said it was encouraging the meeting was focusing on economic development.

“The BNC to be held between Zimbabwe and Botswana tomorrow (today) is a most welcome development cementing relations between the two countries.

“The fact that the meeting by its nature will be co-chaired by the Presidents of the two countries and will cover areas of diplomacy, mining and geology, health, agriculture, science and technology speaks volumes on the focus of economic development,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He said the BNC was coming just before Zimbabwe hosts South Africa in a similar meeting in two weeks time.

“It is further encouraging that another BNC between Zimbabwe and South Africa will be held in Harare shortly. We wish both meetings tremendous success. Those who clamour that the country’s natural resources are whistling in a grave yard,” he added.

Cde Khaya Moyo said it was important that the ruling parties of the respective countries maintain strong political support for such initiatives by their governments.
