Rumbidzai will take part in the Miss Tourism International to be held in China on New Year’s Eve, while Nadia will show her prowess on the ramp at a similar beauty pageant that will take place at the Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The two are expected to leave the country on Friday for their boot camps and final preparations before the pageants.
Rumbidzai and Nadia’s participation at these celebrated international events comes hard on the heels of two other local beauty queens, Lisa Morgan and Malaika Mushandu, who made the nation proud last month, when they took part in the Miss International and Miss World respectively.
As has become the norm in recent years for local beauty queens who take part in regional and international pageants, the two did not disappoint because they put Zimbabwe on the international map.
Although Lisa did not land the top accolade, she managed to bring home two awards, while Malaika carved her own piece of history by finishing in the top 10 at the Miss World finals.
She becomes the second Zimbabwean queen after Angeline Musasiwa Hunda, who came fourth at the Miss World beauty pageant in 1994.
Given the level of success that their counterparts have achieved, Rumbidzai and Nadia are expected to measure up to their tasks and even raise the bar higher.
Rumbidzai was also bubbly and excited when asked about her preparations for the pageant.
She said she had made adequate preparations for the international beauty event.
“I have really worked hard, it has been tough. But I just want to assure the nation that although it will not be easy, I will definitely do my best,” she said.
Standing at 1,70 metres with a waistline of 28 inches and a hip size of 94 inches, Rumbidzai’s physical stature will give her a competitive edge in addition to her social and academic intelligence which is not questionable.
She recently graduated at the Women’s University, and is a well-known television personality, who carved her niche at the local broadcasting station, ZBC, from her days of presenting a youth programme called Youth.com.
On the other hand, Nadia, who is the reigning Miss Talent, has proved her mettle through her participation in a number of social forums for the youth.
She is a brilliant dancer and will undoubtedly enthrall 55 other beauties that are expected to take part at the international beauty fete.
If anything, the two are expected to raise the country’s flag high, while promoting Zimbabwe’s image to the outside world.
Their participation was made possible by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, which at the beginning of the year, assured the winning queens that they would have an opportunity to take part in international beauty pageants.
