SCHOOLS in rural areas across the country continue to receive a boost of Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets which will help bridge educational inequity.
The latest beneficiary is Mlomwe Primary School in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South province which received 10 laptops, one projector and one whiteboard.

ICT, Postal and Courier Services Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti handed over the consignment on Wednesday at an event that was attended by Headman Sikhathini, Bulilima District Schools Inspector Mr Gobile Gobile represented by Mr Reuben Zinyemba, Zanu PF DDC members Cde Philasande Malinga and Cde Judith Ncube, local councillor Ephraim Moyo and the community.
Deputy Minister Phuti said the donation is a fulfilment by the Ministry of ensuring all schools in the country have computer laboratories.
“This donation is in line with the mandate that we were given by His Excellency Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa to ensure that all schools have ICT gadgets for e-learning.
“It does not matter whether it’s a rural or urban school. All the schools will have the ICT gadgets and they should be highly protected,” said Deputy Minister Phuti.
Mr Zinyemba said the gadgets will improve the educational environment in the district.
“With these computers, our learners and teachers will be able to research and also take part in the ICT classes. This will go a long way in improving the pass rate of the district.
“We are grateful to Government for this support and Deputy Minister Phuti who has seen it that all the corners of Bulilima as the MP have gadgets to help us deliver the Heritage Based Curriculum lessons,” said Mr Zinyemba.
