attack after tests revealed that he has blocked arteries and would need a bypass surgery to rectify the condition. The family had earlier indicated that they will be leaving around July 5 and had sent an SOS to well-wishers to assist and foot the bill but it seems the process is taking more time than they had expected. Rushika said so far they have only received US$500 from a friend based outside the country to add to the US$1 000 the family had raised and they are still in need of US$4 500. “People are promising but nothing has come through as of yet. We are struggling to get the air tickets.
“Only a friend of mine I used to train years ago, who is outside the country, donated US$500 so we now have US$1 500. “I doubt very much we can make it on July 5 because yesterday we phoned the airlines saying we do not have enough money and try to change the dates to July 8,” said Rushika.
The National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness president, Otis Goredema, last week said they are going to do their best to assist Rushika. The NFZBBF president has taken his campaign to Facebook to appeal to his members to donate towards Rushika’s cause.
They are trying to help us but I don’t know if it’s going to work since the association does not have money, but they are trying to help in any way they can,” said Rushika.Thos who can want to help Rushika and have no ways of contacting the family can contact The Herald Sports Desk on 795771 or 791191.
