Rusinni wins Mercedes Benz Oaks by 2,5 lengths

The chestnut Kitalpha filly continued with her impressive form as she beat Madam Madonna into second place.
With jockey Quinton Riddle holding the straps, Russini entered the stalls as a one of the favourites as she lived up to the billing and won in 2 min 03.78seconds. It was the first time Rusinni (2) was going beyond 1 600m and she has now chalked three wins from nine runs that are laced with two places.
The race had US$8 500 and it was the third leg of the Triple Tiara open to three-year-old fillies.
Gavin Macleod’s Madam Madonna partnered Kevin Derere to finish ahead of Harris’ Kita by 1.25lens.
Madam Madonna was the runner-up.
Kita, from the Harris’ stable, had Gareth Williams and she was number one on the card that had six runners.
In the other feature race, Control Freak continued with her unbeaten run as the two-year-old filly beat five other runners in the Champion Juvenile Stakes. The 1 200m race was the second leg of the Juvenile Series with Madigan, saddled by Kirk Swanson, finishing second. The gelding Madigan was 3,50 lengths ahead of stablemate Wildcat Brooke who had Randall Simons on board. Seven races were carded on Sunday while the next race meeting will see the running of the Sprint Challenge on July 3.
