A team of Russian medical specialists is in the country to train local medical personnel in Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care, in a move that is expected to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality.

The training, which began on Monday this week, is aimed at addressing the skills gap that the country is facing in these fields.
The training focused on three main causes of maternal deaths in the country; haemorrhage, eclampsia and sepsis.
Those trained include obstetricians, midwives and neonatologists.
