Talented music producer Russo – real name Russel Chiradza – is now married after he paid the bride price for his sweetheart of more than a year, Sithokozile Gumede at a ceremony held at her parents’ home in Marondera over the weekend. The music producer shared his status update on social media, “So yah… I remember our first outing na Sithokozile Shirley-Jane Gumede tine boys dzangu…takatogara hedu tichigocha kanyama kedu, tichiita hedu. One of my friend sent me a message but takanga tiri tese. He said “Russo u have to marry this gal”. I asked indava madaro mudhara, he said “U will never find mumwe musikana akanaka kudaro ane the right qualities of being a good wife, wakapotsa apa hameno hako”…For me at that moment it was more like eish ndabata kaheavy simbi ..kusimbisa profile, but ndakazonyatsodzikamisa pfungwa, really started to know her deeper not just kungonakirwa nerunako zvekumhanya…” he posted.
Russo said he was glad that he has graduated from bachelorhood and is now a real man, adding that his wife, Sithokozile, would be a great pillar of support in his life and career.
“I am not getting any younger and I am lucky to have someone like her who will also help me grow my business since she is a person with great ideas and a lot of strategies, which is one of the things that made me fall in love with her and eventually decide to marry her,” he said. Russo, however, could not be drawn into revealing the amount he paid as lobola.
“’Haaa, mari can’t tell’, (On bride price, I can’t reveal) but just know it happened at her parents’ home in Winston Park, Marondera,” he said.
However some close sources said he forked over several thousands of dollars.
He was accompanied by his father, uncles, friends dubbed- Bosses Affair who include Spencer Madziya, Ishamel Chibvunye, CST Samoti Chizhanje and McDonald Chidavaenzi.
Russo said those who like the white wedding shindig should keep their eyes on this space for details.
“The wedding will be held later this year and we are still to set the official date,” he said. Russo said he has been friends with Sithokozile since 2012 then the romantic bug bit them and the two started dating earlier last year.
“We got engaged in December last year and she is the best thing that has happened to me in my life,” Russo said.
Sithokozile who will be turning 23 in September, is a Bachelor of Political Science student at the University of Zimbabwe.
Russo is one of the finest and most seasoned contemporary music producers in Zimbabwe in the same league with the likes of Mac Dee real name Macdonald Chidavaenzi, among others.
He has produced many household musicians like, Maskiri, Rokii, Ex-Q, Diana Samkange and Roki. He worked as a producer at Nitredy Studios, before going his own way.
Earlier this year he made headlines as mentor- producer for the Zim Talent Hunt competition.
