“Chuman” Matema, Ronald “D-Train” Chiwanza, Candy and Dee Blaze.
The afro-jazz sensation has finally found her groove and is currently working on her latest album which will be out before year end.
She is backed by a six-member band comprising Pablo Nakapa on acoustic, Frank Mavhumira on lead guitar, Zealman Munyengu on drums, Chris Fefini on keyboards, Tito Svosvore on percussion and Solomon Shunguro on bass guitar.
However, the first anniversary party starts on Friday with Huggies Entertainment Chuman and D-Train introducing what has become to be known as “Girl Power” with the likes of Tendai “The Sweet Thang” Chakanyuka and Rumbi Moyo.
The party doesn’t stop as Mr Kool will share the turntables with DJ Dee Blaze at ZimCafe Restaurant on Friday before joining the rest of Huggies Entertainment on Saturday at the hotel.
If you love soul and RnB it will be all in the mix for you at the ZimCafe Hotel. Those who love yesteryear music will have enough dosage courtesy of Mr Kool who has been running the show on Power FM since the 1980s with the likes of radio guru, the late Josh Makawa. Mr Kool knows his music like the back of his palm.
Once he takes over the turntables you are assured of a fantastic voyage into sound as Mr Kool throws down some serious party music from the 1970s, 80s to the 90s. Put on your dancing shoes as Mr Kool goes like: “Party party, keep on, keep on.”
Mr Kool’s act will be spiced up by The Sweet Thang who appeals to female fans when it comes to old skool music. Also a veteran in her own right, “The Sweet Thang” continues to wow audiences with her swift delivery on the decks.
Most of the songs on her playlists are R‘n’B as well as groovy laid-back hits which fans loved and enjoyed in the golden old days.
But somehow things will be done differently when Chuman and D-Train take turns to spin the hits.
D-Train is in a class of his own and he is a joy to listen to. His music taste appeals to mature and trendy audience who patronise the joint.
Chuman, who is also a well known jazz aficionado, will be mixing things up on the decks playing rare grooves and true R‘n’B on Sunday alongside Rute.
Expect to hear music by Soul II Soul, Teddy Riley, Keith Sweat, R Kelly and many more from the old days.
Burzil Mafukidze, the F&B manager at ZimCafe Hotel, promised fans a fun-filled outing this weekend.
“We want to give patrons value for their money and there is going to be lots of give-aways especially on drinks for every purchase on beer and drinks as well as snacks on the house throughout the weekend.
“Another thing not to be missed is the Tshisa Nyama on Sunday. So far we have had overwhelming response from our patrons,” he said.
