Zimbabwean model Sharon Rutsito believes she will make the country proud at this year’s edition of Miss Tourism Universe to be held in Lebanon next month.

The 26-year-old model, who is the reigning Miss Tourism Universe Zimbabwe, is set to leave the country next week for the event that will be held on September 16.

She says she has left no stone unturned in preparing for the big day.

“I have played my part in preparing for the event in ensuring that everything will be place on the day of the event,” she said.

Rutsito believes her role as Miss Tourism Universe is to change other people’s lives.

“Being Miss Tourism Universe is a chance to make other people’s lives better. Underprivileged people should know that their situation does not matter as they can make a difference in life,” she said.

With the help of local companies she has donated goods to Chikurubi Female Prison and to Chiedza Child Care.

The event will also put local designers on the limelight.

Rutsito started her career in 2012 but she was not sure if she had what it takes to make a breakthrough in the modelling industry.

“When I started this I wasn’t serious at all but because of the encouragement and passion things worked well and now I have managed to make a name for myself,” she said.

She has participated in other top beauty pageants like Global Zimbabwe, Miss 21st Movement and Miss ZimGold.

“After I realised my potential in the industry I went for those competitions. All what I can say is passion can make things happen,” she said.

The model believes hard work is a crucial tenet for success.

“One thing that keeps me going is hard work. If you are into modelling you need to work hard,” he said.

Rutsito joins several top Zimbabwean models that have represented the country at several top beauty pageants.
