THIRTY-ONE-year-old Samuel Mapendere who survived a horrific car accident in which seven people perished two years ago along the Masvingo-Harare road has released his debut gospel album titled “Wandisimudza”.
The album carries eight tracks which are mainly praise and worship.
In an interview yesterday, Mapendere, who is backed by the Voice of Grace choir, said he penned the album in appreciation of what God has done in his life.
“I am here because God loves me. I survived so many gory things in my life including a horror car crash which wiped all the other occupants but I came out without even a minor scratch.
“Seeing that I was living in God’s grace I decided to venture into gospel music to try and spread his word.
“I want to thank my ZAOGA church elders for guiding me through the project,” he said.
Mapendere hopes the album will new opportunities in his life.
The Masvingo-born and bred artiste is currently working on strategies to market the album which has largely been accepted by listeners while at the same time rehearsing some new songs he intends to release next year.
“At the moment we are still distributing the album across the country and beyond.
“We are happy that people have largely accepted our music and it is my hope that we will be able to belt out some new staff next year,” he said.
The album opens with a powerful song which has some sungura-inspired beat “Baba Vedu Vekudenga” which is more of a prayer.
The title track could prove to be the hit of the album if listeners’ views are anything to go by.
“Ndiani”, “Ropa raJesu”, “Wakakomborerwa”, “Thank you my Lord” and “Ndaponeswa” are some of the tracks on the album.
