RUWA Mayor Councillor Michael Mataruka has commended the World Food Programme (WFP) and other development partners for supporting community projects that are improving livelihoods and strengthening food security in the town.

In a post following a tour of several WFP-funded initiatives on Wednesday, Clr Mataruka said the projects were making a difference in the lives of residents.

“Such partnerships are making a meaningful difference in our communities. Our first stop was at Ruvheneko Secondary School where local residents have been empowered to establish a range of income-generating projects,” he said.

“It was inspiring to witness the creativity and determination of the participants who are engaged in poultry production and gardening initiatives that are helping to strengthen household incomes and promote food security.”

Clr Mataruka said the initiatives demonstrated the positive impact of collaboration between local authorities, development partners and communities.

“As Ruwa Council, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower our residents and contribute to sustainable community development,” he said.
