TRADE and investment between Zimbabwe and Rwanda come under the spotlight this week during the review of the second Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) on co-operation.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said tourism, agriculture, mineral resources, exchange of educational personnel and expertise, climate change and media, will be discussed during the review meeting, scheduled for today and tomorrow.
Diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Rwanda have continued to grow exponentially since the advent of the Second Republic.
The mid-term review is a mechanism to follow up on the implementation of the various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and other agreements signed during the second session of the Zimbabwe-Rwanda Joint Permanent Commission on Co-operation (JPCC) which was held in Rwanda in May last year.
“The two sisterly countries have a shared desire to strengthen and deepen their relations for the mutual benefit of their peoples,” said the ministry.
Zimbabwe and Rwanda have a special relationship as they have striking similarities in the size of their economies, population, stages of development and history.
They first established embassies in their capitals Harare and Kigali in 2019. — New Ziana
