LEADING Zimbabwe professional golfer, Ryan Cairns, wants to play on the US PGA Tour after a decent season in the Sunshine Tour.
Cairns finished as the leading player in the local Zambezi Tour and has forced his way into the Top 40 in the Sunshine Tour where he is placed in 37th position.

He dominated the domestic scene, earning US$9 667, and is leading the order of merit for 2013 season.

“After an unforgettable year full of highs and lows I am now taking the leap of faith to continue my playing career in America,” Cairns said.

“I will base myself in Raleigh, North Carolina, from Wednesday before teeing up in the PGA Tour Latino America Qualifying School in Peru next month.

“Thank you all for the unbelievable support in 2013 guys, it really made the good weeks feel great and the bad weeks somewhat bearable.”

Cairns took part in 24 tournaments, making the cut 18 times and missing out on six occasions.

Meanwhile, Scott Vincent maintained his status as Africa’s leading amateur golfer after he finished the season in the top 20 on the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.

One of the hottest prospects on the United States College golf circuit this year, Vincent has been in good form, claiming victories in three of four events he took part in.

The former St Johns College student is now on a scholarship at Virginia Tech University and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month in September.
