SA defend regional golf title

The South Africans managed a 256 gross score at the last round after Zimbabwe had taken the lead during the first two rounds on Friday and Saturday.
South Africa, who have become the regional powerhouse, showed their superiority on the last day yesterday when they overtook the host to lead by two shots.
Zimbabwe finished second on 258 with Namibia following closely.
High flying Zimbabwean golfer Claire Minter won the individual play.
Minter managed to get the better of Namibian Bonita Bredenhann who eventually came second.
The prestigious tournament, which had Altifin as the major sponsor, lived up to expectations.
Altfin chief executive, Douglas Hoto, said his company was happy to be associated with the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union and he pledged its commitment to keep on supporting the sport.
“We are very happy to be associated with this union and I hope we will continue to build our relations from now. This is good for us all and I am pleased that the game went on well,” Hoto said.
The ZLGU president, Thembi Moyo, was delighted that the third edition of the tournament went on smoothly.
“I could never thank enough the visiting RAACT teams that brought about excitement to our little world of golf.
“On accepting the challenge, I had no idea the amount of time and resources this was going to demand but once the organising team was in place, the task became lighter and enjoyable.
“I would also like to thank in absentia our trustee Nina Cloete for her tremendous support and responsiveness,” Moyo said.
