A SOUTH African company is negotiating a deal to supply Hwange Colliery Company with a Bradford coal breaker machine, which can enclose dust by permitting effective suppression of dust-laden air. Tenova TAKRAF business development manager, George Jacob told Business Chronicle at the ongoing Mine Entra exhibition at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre yesterday that the mining company has shown interest in buying the machine since the existing one is no longer able to contain dust, which is a challenge to miners.

“Hwange Colliery looks promising and the prospects of us supplying the company with our machinery look good and we’re at the present moment waiting for their feedback,” he said.

Jacob said they have also engaged a number of Zimbabwean companies before in their business of providing engineering services.

“We’ve worked with the giant platinum mining company, Zimplats in material handling for its phase two project of four shallow mechanised underground mines,” he said.

Jacob also said their company was refurbishing Bindura Nickel Corporation’s nickel smelter and refinery, which has not been in operation for a long time.

“We’re currently revamping an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) plant, which is a device that collects dust using electrostatic forces in Bindura, which has not been in operation for a very long time and we expect to be done as the third quarter of the year begins,” he said.

Tenova TAKRAF is a competent partner for the development, planning, design, manufacture and supply of machines and technological plants of all kinds, in particular plants, systems and equipment in the area of open cast mining and bulk materials handling.

It works alongside Bateman Engineered Technologies, which does marketing and sales for their bulk material handling equipment utilised in ports, stockyards, power stations, steel making plants, in the cement industry and many more.
