A DELEGATION representing 40 companies from South Africa would be in the country later this month to attend investment and trade seminars.
The seminars are lined up for Harare, Gweru and Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Bulawayo branch chairperson Mduduzi Ncube said the delegation was expected in the country from March 13 to 19.
The delegation will be hosted by the Ministry of Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion, said Ncube.
“The delegation will be in search of investment opportunities in the following areas; capital equipment, furniture manufacturing, transport, chemicals (cosmetics, fragrances, essential oils); protective equipment, quantity surveying, waste management, agro-processing, manufacturer (toilet paper), aerial survey and environmental engineering, among others,” he said.
The first seminar is scheduled for Harare on March 14.
During the seminar Business Council of Zimbabwe president Wonder Chabikwa is expected to present a paper on the overview of the business environment in Zimbabwe while the Zimbabwe Investment Authority chief executive officer Richard Mubaiwa would present a paper on procedures and guidelines for investing in Zimbabwe.
The seminars would also be attended by government officials from Zimbabwe and South Africa among them Deputy Minister of Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Monica Mutsvangwa, Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Chiratidzo Mabuwa, South Africa Ambassador to Zimbabwe Vusi Mavimbela, South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mzwandile Masina.
On March 15 and 16, the delegation will be in Gweru.
The Bulawayo seminar will be held on March 17 and during the event, the Association for Business in Zimbabwe chief executive officer Lucky Mlilo would present a paper on the overview of business opportunities in Bulawayo.
ZNCC Matabeleland Chamber president Crispen Mugova is expected to talk about unlocking the potential of SMEs while the
Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Busisa Moyo will make a presentation centred on industrialisation in Bulawayo.
Mubaiwa will also talk about sustainable investment and alternative financing models for growth.
The business mission is expected to culminate in a business-to-business meeting on March 18.
The investment and trade mission is in line with the Zim-Asset’s thrust and the 10-Point Plan, which highlights the need for the country to attract investment in the areas of value addition, infrastructure development and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) promotion among others.
