Sad love story inspires artist

AFRO beat artist, Hubert “Huby Blakes” Chitambara, says sad experiences in his love journey inspired him to start singing.

The young singer and entrepreneur is aiming to break into the international market.

He rose to prominence in 2016 with the remix of Mai Vadhikondo, which became an instant hit with over a million YouTube views.

Huby Blakes has since dropped a new single titled Pamusinganzwe to illustrate his pain.

“My life is a beautiful tragedy. A sad love story on an endless loop.

“The players may evolve and the setting may change, but it’s always the same, love, pain, death and repeat.

“I wrote this song after being wrongly accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and if the situation had gone the other way, I would have spent a long period in prison.

“Almost everyone close to me withdrew during that period, and I felt completely alone in the world.

“My mother, who loved me unconditionally, was the only person I knew could have been there for me.

“I know I wouldn’t have suffered as much if she had been present.

“The Pamusinganzwe music video is a representation of how I felt at the time,” he said.

Huby Blakes has since gained a million admirers and followers of his music.

“At the 2019 Zimbabwe Musical Awards, I received two nominations for my exceptional effort, the Best Alternative artist, and best dance for the song titled Shekeda.

“I recently published my debut studio album, Homeboy, which features the country’s number one song Pamusinganzwe, on the largest radio station, Power FM radio charts for 12 weeks in a row.

“The song was produced by Nyasha Timbe, directed by Sir Peter and it features Ti Gonzi,” he added.
