Outgoing Sadc chairman Namibia Commerce and Industry Minister Hage Geingob, encouraged the free circulation of products and people and said it was necessary for the block to create the environment to implement such an important project.
The head of Tanzania’s mission, Bernard Kamillius, said his country and neighbouring Zambia are working on railroad transport integration to improving trade.
Angolan Minister for Planning Ana Dias Lourenço said at the forum that free trade helps to promote growth in integration movements when the process is accompanied by strong economic structures.
The Sadc, with over 200 million people, also wants to create a common market for the region, and strives to fight poverty and preserve peace and safety.
The ministers arranged the agenda for the two-day Sadc Summit with Heads of State and Government which opened yesterday with the theme “Consolidating the Basis of Regional Integration: Development of Infrastructures to Facilitate Commercial Exchanges and Economic Liberalisation”. – Prensa Latina.
