Sadomba’s new DeMbare role

in Goromonzi District in line with his new role as an ambassador of Dynamos’ 50th Golden Jubilee.
Dynamos will turn 50 in 2013, but the Harare giants have already started an awareness campaign about the anniversary.

They have commissioned a local consultancy firm, S. Chiware Sports, to spearhead the various programmes that will serve as a build-up to DeMbare’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Sadomba is one of the former Dynamos sons who has been identified to act as the Golden Jubilee ambassador amid revelations that plans are afoot to also name England-based former skipper and midfielder Memory Mucherahowa amongst a host of the club’s legends who will receive the honour.

The Warriors and Al Hilal striker, whose best year for Dynamos was the 2008 campaign, has been in the country since featuring for the national team in a 2-1 wining cause over Mali in a 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifying tie at Rufaro.

On Tuesday, Sadomba, in the company of S. Chiware Sports officials, his wife and representatives of Life and Liberty International Ministries, travelled to Murewa where he spent time with primary and secondary school students from the Goromonzi District.

The Warriors speed merchant gave motivational speeches to the students and also pledged to donate playing kits, balls and educational material for the different schools.
His first stop was Mukombami Primary School near Juru Growth point before he met students from seven secondary schools – St John’s Chikwaka, St Dominics’ Nora, Mwanza, Bosha, Rusike, St Charles Mabvudzi and hosts Mukombami.

The secondary schools had converged for a sports day at Mukombami.
He wound up his visit to the area by meeting children from St James Craig, Pagejo ra Rubi and Cornelius Hope Academy primary schools who had been having volleyball, football and netball tournaments.

Sadomba advised the students against being swayed by social vices and crime if they were to succeed in their educational and sporting careers.
“There is no short cut to success either in sport or academics, you just have to work hard in everything that you do and you have to be disciplined.

“It is very important that you have to listen to your teachers, listen to your parents and to respect the Lord.
“You cannot succeed in football or in school if you do not follow those three important values,” Sadomba said.

The headmasters and teachers, in thanking Sadomba for his gesture, also revealed their interest to have more high profile athletes spending some time to interact with the students.
“Just your presence and giving the kids a chance to see Edward Sadomba in person and hearing speak in good enough motivation for the students to aspire to achieve what you have achieved in your football career,” said Winfreda Chirimba, the deputy head at Mukombami Primary School.

Former Dynamos treasurer Austin Chipfiko, who is now with S Chiware Sports, also explained the rationale behind appointing such former Dynamos players like Sadomba as the club’s Golden Jubilee ambassadors and some of the events they are undertaking in the 50th anniversary countdown.

“On the occasion of the Dynamos Football Club Golden Jubilee commemoration countdown promotion, Edward Duduza Sadomba will receive Honorary Dynamos FC Golden Jubilee ambassador Order Memorabilia from the Dynamos Golden Jubilee countdown promotion organisers for his personal commitment and Dynamos and support to the countdown promotion.

“Duduza’s role at Dynamos has bot been limited to that of a player but has included such other capacities as helping to advance the cause of the club.
‘In his Honorary Dynamos Golden Jubilee Commemoration Ambassador Order, Sadomba’s role will be to promote and support the preparations for the Jubilee celebrations to be held in 2013.

“Sadomba will also export the Dynamos Golden Jubilee message to Sudan and the entire Southern African Region and allow an opportunity for the entire African continent to have an in-depth understanding of the Dynamos brand and the significant contribution the club has made to local, regional and international football.

“Sadomba will facilitate for the club to have the right kind of relationship to be commercially successful ahead of the Golden Jubilee commemoration,” Chipfiko said.
The S. Chiware/ Dynamos Golden Jubilee countdown promotion manager said they were also looking beyond just the 50th anniversary celebrations.

“The future for Dynamos beyond the Golden Jubilee is to forge tools of co-operation with other clubs globally and open international football ventures.
“In the past 47 years or so the club has demonstrated the spirit of soccer that has inspired and influenced the development and growth of the local game both direct and indirect.

“The future is about coming up with a programme of action to advance and direct the club’s influence and authority to other spheres for example social and humanitarian responsibility.
“Here the club will use its central values and its rich historical background to contribute towards socio-economic issues and helping to fight threats to human development such as poverty, unemployment, crime, illiteracy, heath risks, abuses and inequality,” Chipfiko said.
