Saints visit Masvingo

in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Mucheke tomorrow.
The former Dynamos assistant coach got off to a flying start in his first game in charge of Masvingo when they beat DeMbare but then lost 3-2 to Kiglon in their next game.

A lot had been expected from Yuna Yuna after their giant-killing act but Kiglon brought them down to earth with a thud at Gwanzura.
Masvingo United were trailing 3-0 at the break before they gathered their act to score two goals in the second half but the damage had already been done.
“In the last league game, I think there was some complacency in the players maybe because we had won against Dynamos.

“During the first half, we were never in the game.
“But we only managed to come back strongly in the second half and scored the two goals.
“Had we started well, maybe we could have won the game against Kiglon,” said Kawondera.

The reserve fixture between the two sides at Luveve ended in a 1-1 draw in April with Beaven Chikaka scoring for Chikwata while Johnson Zimbabe replied for Masvingo.
Now Kawondera is hoping to prove that the win over Dynamos was not a fluke and is confident that they will get the priceless win.
“We are looking forward to a win over Saints.

“I know that Zimbabwe Saints are motivated by their good run in the Mbada Diamonds Cup and their moralewill be high.
“But we are playing at home and as a new coach I still want to maintain that unbeaten run.
“Masvingo United have a good record at home this season and we have to defend that,” said Kawondera.

Yuna Yuna have lost only twice this season, losing to Motor Action and Black Mambas.
“We have to maintain our fine record at home as we fight want to stay clear of relegation,” said Kawondera.

Kawondera, who took over from Saul Chaminuka as head coach, is likely to field Francis Tizayi in goals with Syprian Muchabaya and Hardlife Mavundi likely to get places.
He also has Rowland Makiwa to count on but the hosts’ key player remains Pervington Zimunya.

Masvingo are missing midfielder Isaac Chapura and Terence Majo who are sitting on three yellow cards.
However, Zimbabwe Saints will not be pushovers as they desperately seek to move away from the relegation zone.

A defeat for them will all but seal their fate and Division One football will beckon for them next season.
The Bulawayo side are banking on the services of the seasoned Chipo Tsodzo, the gangly Tapela Ngwenya, Abraham Mbaiwa, Vorster Chitemu and goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya.
