PREPARATIONS for the annual Sakupwanya Tournament are at an advanced stage with participants in football and netball expected to battle for supremacy at its usual venue – St Mathias Tsonzo grounds – on July 4.
Started by the late water resources strategist Dr Jeftar Sakupwanya in 1997 with only three schools – St Matthias Tsonzo High, Pafiwa Mutasa High and Vumbunu Secondary, the tournament now encompasses the whole of Mutasa district schools.
19 schools are expected to participate in football, volleyball and netball.
Dr Sakupwanya died on December 17, 2023.
