DEFRAUDING his employer of $4 000 landed a Mutare man in court. Innocent Satande who was employed as a sales representative by Coverlink Holdings was hauled before Mutare senior magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura on fraud charges last Wednesday and was remanded out of custody to Friday on $200 bail. Mr Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted. It is alleged that Satande defrauded the company of 33 insurance discs which he was supposed to sell and surrender the money amounting to $4 000 to the company.
Said Mudadirwa: “Satande was supposed to come to the company’s offices and surrender daily the money he would have collected after selling the insurance discs, but he decided to stay at home and converted the money to his own use.

“Coverlink Holdings lost $4 000 to the accused and nothing was recovered.”
Satande, however, denied the allegations and said he had only sold 14 insurance discs and converted the $420 to his own use.
“Your Worship, I only sold 14 discs which are worth $420,” he defended himself.

Mrs Chiundura warned Satande against interfering with witnesses and ordered him to report at Mutare Central Police Station once a fortnight and to continue residing at his given address.
