A 40-year-old Mbare woman was forced to sniff a towel and felt dizzy before being raped after boarding a Honda Fit last Friday.
The woman also lost US$170.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case saying the woman has since been referred to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for medical examination.
Insp Chakanza once again warned people against boarding Mushika-shika. “Police are investigating a case involving two men and two women aboard a Honda Fit who gave transport to a Mbare woman and raped her,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances were that on February 24, at around 6pm, the complainant boarded a black Toyota Wish at Cameroon Street in Harare CBD going to Mbare National.
“There were four men and two women in the vehicle. When they approached Mupedzanhamo fleamarket, along Remembrance Drive, one of the male accused persons grabbed the complainant’s bra and forcibly took US$170 cash.
“The second accused person produced a blue towel and forced the complainant to sniff it.
“The complainant felt dizzy and suddenly became unconscious.
“She later regained consciousness at around 7pm and realised that she had been raped after feeling pains and noticing sperms from her private parts.
“The accused persons dumped her along Muchenje Street in Mbare National before she informed her husband who advised her to report the matter to the police,” he said.
