United Kingdom-based gospel musician, Chipo Samushonga, has embarked on a journey of transforming people’s lives through her music, which is inspired by her life experiences.
The songbird is gaining popularity through her latest singles ‘You have done it again’ and ‘Munonzwa’.
MacDee Chidavaenzi of Eternity Productions Studios produced the songs.
‘You Have Done It’ is a praise and worship song that has a fusion of Afro-pop and a little bit of rap.
In this song, Samushonga exhibits her artistic expertise as she infuses different genres into one song.
She also shows her lyrical prowess in that song.
Indeed, the future looks bright for the rising musician who released her debut 10 track-album ‘Mubvunzo’ last year.
In an interview with The Herald Arts, Samushonga said her lyrics and themes are based on social commentary.
“My inspiration when crafting songs comes from personal experiences and from what I see happening in society daily,” she said, adding that she looks forward to working together with other artistes locally and abroad.
Samushonga also vowed to remain on top of the game. She intends to produce videos of her two singles soon.
Her current album contains a variety of songs including ‘Mukundi we Hondo’, ‘Ngandi Kunzwe’, ‘Nzvimbo Yekuteura’ and ‘Chiyedza Changu’.
Reflecting on the album, Samushonga said the song ‘Nhai Baba’ is a message that encourages fathers to look after their children, even those born out of wedlock.
“We have a lot of people that do not know their fathers, just like me. It affects a lot of things in life,” she said.
“l encourage fathers to take responsibility. I seek to promote restoration of broken relationships, closure is very important.”
Samushonga promised to keep on producing music that can heal people’s hearts and encourage them to become better in life.
The gospel music artiste was born and raised in Waterfalls, Zimbabwe.
She is a mother of two children.
