Sanchez might face City

LONDON. — Alexis Sanchez will be given as long as possible to prove his fitness, but Arsene Wenger admitted the forward could play in the top-of-the-table English Premiership soccer clash between Arsenal and Manchester City on Monday night. The Gunners’ playmaker limped out of the game against Norwich last month and has been sidelined for three games since.

But he has begun running again at the club’s Colney training ground and Wenger is hoping to step up his progress ahead of the game at the Emirates on Monday.

“He is running, but not participating in full training,” Wenger said.

“Maybe there is a slight chance for Alexis to be in the squad again, but it is too early to be sure about it.

“Some of them are so keen to forget that they have pain somewhere that they say they are alright when they are not.

“You know the players and their psychological profile, you take that into account then you get scientific advice and you trust your get as well and then you make a decision.

“You want him to be keen to play. But he respects all the decisions I make and that is what I want from him, because he says he’s always ready!”

Wenger has also admitted that he could be forced into the January transfer market. — The Daily Express.
