Sandy is back

The nimble footed songbird is set to announce her re-entry into the music scene with a seven track album that will be launched at a colourful ceremony at a Bulawayo hotel, on Friday.

Titled No Matter What, the album will bring her discography to six. The album has songs such as Jaiva, Bambiqolo, Abantwana, Satane, Love, Bonga and Ubuhle.  It features women from South African group, Platform One.

In an interview, Ndebele said motherhood has been tying her down and now that her children are a little bit older she can now concentrate on her music career.

“I had to be there for my children, now that they are a little older I want to go back to one of my passion — music,” she said.

Ndebele was however quick to say she will not be neglecting her other womanly roles, like those of being a wife, mother and daughter-in-law.

The artiste said the timing of the release was well planned, as she wanted to have as many people from the arts sector to attend.

The singer is eyeing the who-is-who of the arts sector that would be in the city for the National Arts Merit Awards to be held at the Large City Hall on Saturday.

Though Ndebele has already shot three tracks from the album she will also take the opportunity to record her live DVD at the same launch. The singer’s group Izintombi Zomqangala will also be performing.

“I am back in the game and this time it’s all systems go. I am taking my career to another level. People should watch out,” Ndebele said.

The former Mpopoma High School student burst into the music scene at the turn of the millennium after joining Iyasa.

After working for sometime with the group she went solo recording her own album Tshaya Tshaya. Songs like Mama from the album received massive airplay on both radio and local television.

Six albums and several awards later she has not looked back with albums such as Ekhaya, Ayoyo, Life Goes On and Dub’encane under her belt.

According to Ndebele, the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Webster Shamu, who is also the patron of Zimbabwe Music Association, will be the guest of honour.

The event will also be attended by the director of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Elvas Mari, among other dignitaries.
