February 14, traditionally a day filled with love and romantic gestures, is set to take a comedic turn next year as the multi-talented Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi becomes the latest roastee for Umahlekisa Entertainment.

In the world of comedy, a roast involves poking fun at an individual (roastee), typically a celebrity, by a roast master and a team of individuals who are familiar with the roastee, all in the presence of a live audience.

Popularly known as Sandy, the musician, dancer, businesswoman, wife, and politician, has experienced a whirlwind 2023, making her an ideal candidate for the comedic spotlight in Umahlekisa Entertainment’s long-standing tradition.

She follows in the humorous footsteps of previous roastees, including the late rapper Cal Vin, Novuyo Seagirl, and Umahlekisa Entertainment’s Director Ntando Van Moyo.

Comedy enthusiasts can anticipate a memorable evening with a stellar panel featuring veteran radio personality Ezra “Tshisa” Sibanda, Babongile Skhonjwa, journalist Zenzele Ndebele, and art practitioner Sithandazile Dube, all set to playfully dissect Sandy’s life and persona at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue.

Ntando Van Moyo shared insights into why Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi is an excellent choice for the roast, stating, “many people have a love-hate relationship with her as someone with a significant musical brand and a national treasure.

She has been in the game for a long time, and that means she has a story to tell.”

The selection of panelists promises a diverse and entertaining night.

“We deliberately chose people from diverse sectors who have interacted with her to share experiences.

These panelists have had a close relationship with our roastee, making it an exciting endeavour as they can comically share unheard-of experiences and moments,” Moyo said.

Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi, a renowned female artiste in the country, recently achieved academic success, graduating with a first-class Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Music Business and Technology at Midlands State University (MSU). In recognition of her efforts, she was awarded the most inspirational student in the department.

As the anticipation builds for this unique comedic event, fans and comedy enthusiasts alike can look forward to an evening filled with laughter, insight, and a lighthearted exploration of Sandy’s life and achievements. – @MbuleloMpofu
