AN Epworth sangoma, who allegedly attacked a parking marshal with a machete leading to the amputation of his leg, has dismissed the claims.
Lovemore Mushangwe, who was accused of assaulting Farai Munhombori, said his hands were clean.
“Firstly, I am a traditional healer and I have a licence to heal people.
“I have and will never use my herbs or anything to hurt anyone.
“I vowed to heal people and that is what I will continue doing,” he said.
The sangoma, whose image has been soiled by the reports, said he was not the one who caused Manhombori’s leg to be amputated.
“According to the doctor, who was called to testify, Manhombori’s leg had to be amputated because he already had a sore under his leg.
“Even an officer, Ms Munemo, said when they came to my house, the day Manhombori was beaten up, they did not see a machete wound,” he said.
Mushangwe rubbished claims that he played a hand in changes which were made to Manhombori’s docket.
“I never went to the police station to get the docket, opened by Manhombori changed, it was him who did that.
“In his first docket, he said we had a fight and when he saw that it was not implicating me in any way, he then changed it and said I had attacked him with a machete.
“I have never laid my hands on Manhombori and I do not ever wish to.
“The only thing that he said that is correct is that he was beaten up by my son and grandson but it was not on my orders.”
Mushangwe added:
“I was asleep the time he was fighting with my family and I was woken up by the noise that they were making.
“When I got outside, he shouted that he was waiting for me and started throwing bricks.
“He took out a machete and charged in my direction and people stopped him before he got to me, that machete was not used on anyone, though.
“I started staying on my stand in 1993. Manhombori only moved there in 2019 and has been staying on my stand for three years now.”
Mushangwe said he was actually the one who went to the Council to report Manhombori.
“I am the one who went to the Council to ask them why Manhombori had moved onto my land and they called him there and told him to move.
“I showed him the papers that proved that I was the rightful owner of the stand.
“I was never violent with him, I showed him the papers and talked to him properly.”
