Sanyati Rural District Council has bought an electric motor to improve water supply at its growth point.
The local authority is also embarking on routine maintenance of the district’s roads.
In an interview recently, Sanyati RDC chief executive Mr Achim Shadaya said council was committed to improving water supplies at Sanyati Growth Point.
“We bought an electric motor to augment our water system pumping from Munyati River to areas surrounding the growth point, including Sanyati Baptist Primary and Secondary Schools, and a nearby local Government school,” he said.
The council, Mr Shadaya said, had kick-started its road rehabilitation programme.
“We are doing routine repairs to the Golden Valley-Sanyati Road, which was damaged by the rains,” he said.
“The road had become hardly trafficable and it needed to be restored as a matter of urgency.”
Mr Shadaya said council set aside funds for the maintenance of the roads.
“At Sabobona subdivision C — one of council’s ongoing programmes — we are doing road formation, gravelling and compaction,” he said.
Mr Shadaya said council had also entered into a public and private partnership to maintain some of its roads.
“We entered into partnership with Central Mechanical Equipment Department (CMED) to maintain an 18km stretch at Agro-Residential plots,” he said.
“There has been notable progress, with 40 percent completion level so far.”
Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Dr Joram Gumbo recently hailed Sanyati for efficiently using its allocations from Zinara.
