NEWLY-elected National Assembly member for Nyanga North Cde Chido Sanyatwe of Zanu-PF has dismissed allegations of rigging levelled against her by the MDC-Alliance and its plans to contest her victory as futile.
She said the allegations will not distract her from her efforts to work hard for the development of her constituency.
Cde Sanyatwe said she had already put the election period behind her and was now looking forward to engaging various players to map the way forward in uplifting the livelihoods of the people in Nyanga North.
MDC-Alliance is claiming that about 600 people from Mozambique were allowed to vote in Ward 11, Nyanga North, as the basis of contesting the results.
“The elections are now behind us. The MDC-Alliance’s claims are baseless and unfounded,” she said.
“They claim 600 people from Mozambique voted in Ward 11, which is unfounded. Everyone knows that the elections were conducted through a secret ballot. How then do they know and prove that those people they are talking of voted for Zanu-PF when they cast their votes in secret?
“The MDC-Alliance is just a cry-baby. They just want to raise dust for no reason. I have already put the elections behind and I am now working on how we can uplift the livelihoods of the people of Nyanga North who have been marginalised for a long time.”
Cde Sanyatwe also thanked the people of Nyanga North for voting Zanu-PF and electing her during the harmonised elections adding she would not betray their trust.
“I would like to thank you all for voting resoundingly for President Mnangagwa and myself during the elections. It shows that the people of Nyanga North are ready for the new trajectory and vision set by the President, Cde Mnangagwa. Let us work together,” she said.
Meanwhile, Cde Sanyatwe also urged people to conserve the environment when she officiated at the Nyanga District Agricultural Show.
She encouraged farmers to join Command Agriculture programmes, especially Command Fisheries.
“I would like to urge you to preserve our environment particularly the forests. We know the forests are the ones that give us life, so let us conserve them. I would like to urge you to join Command Agriculture programmes like Command F)isheries. We want to eradicate poverty in Nyanga and we can achieve that through joining these Government programmes,” she said.
