Satanists cleansing ceremony hits snag

The letter is also copied to the pastor, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Cowdray Park, the Mayor, Councillor Thaba Moyo and the Town Clerk, Mr Middleton Nyoni.

The SDA church is also housed at Stand Number 1975.

On Sunday residents of Cowdray Park resolved to hold a four-hour prayer session, starting at an open space used by the SDA on Saturday to cleanse the suburb of suspected Satanism.

The meeting followed confessions last month by a 16-year-old girl who stunned residents by confessing that she was part of a 60 member Satanists cult that had killed 38 people in the suburb, eaten their flesh and drunk their blood.

“Our client has grave reservations with the prayer meeting taking place at his business premises. He has not been consulted and he stands to suffer irreparable harm as this prayer is associated with Satanism and people will associate his business with Satanism and shun it to his detriment as it will be viewed as the Satanist stronghold fueling paranoid perceptions fuelled by you,” wrote Mr Mazibisa.

He contends that comments made by residents in Monday’s edition of Chronicle clearly show or is evident that the people are already paranoid and view the place as a Satanism stronghold.

He adds: “If the supposedly cleansing prayer is to take place his business will surely be destroyed and you (councillor) and your associates will not be there to pick up the broken pieces.

“It is shocking how a whole community, including your office as councillor, can believe a psychotic and paranoid story by a hallucinogenic 16-year-old girl, that Satanism is being practised at the SDA church and on our client’s stand.

It is religious arrogance and intolerance of the highest order, to falsely accuse people of frivolous and unbelievable hogwash and hallucination about phantom deaths. Such spiritual fanatism will not be tolerated at our client’s premises.”

Mr Mazibisa says the utterances by the residents border on a violation of the Suppression of the Witchcraft Act by peddling the Satanism hogwash, calling meetings at Mahlathini Primary School.

“We advise you that you and those who agree with you are not welcome to conduct the prayer at the proposed site on Saturday 27 October 2012 and our client will not hesitate to sue you or anyone who shall interfere with his occupation of the place if you enter his stand without consent. If we think there is intransience on your part we are instructed to get an interdict with costs of suit on an attorney client scale to stop the trespassing on our client’s premises,” wrote the lawyer.
