A 70-year-old man is battling for life at Gokwe South District Hospital after being savaged by his brother’s four long lost sons last week.

Tafara, Melusi, Admire and Prosper Masocha assaulted their uncle, Joshua Masocha, with machetes and axes.

They were accusing him of witchcraft as well as demanding the inheritance left by their late father.

A relative, Obert Masocha, told H-Metro yesterday that the four disappeared 15 years ago and only returned on the day of the attack.

“It had been 15 years without hearing from them and they returned in the early hours of the morning and ordered their uncle to come out.

“When he didn’t open the door, they broke it down, dragged him outside and started butchering him with their machetes and axes.

“He sustained a broken backbone and suffered other severe injuries all over the body.

“They seemed possessed and no one could restrain them,” said Obert.

One neighbour said the four were notorious makorokozas who engaged in various criminal activities.

“They are known makorokoza used to this life of violence, and evading police,” said the neighbour.

The four fled after committing the heinous act, but two were arrested while the others are still on the run.
