I am eternally grateful to everyone who has played a part in my career, shaping me to be the boxer that I am today,” said Mkandla after her recognition.
She added: “I hope and pray that I get a better title shot this year.”
The boxing categories were new additions, coming against the backdrop of the arrival of the Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board as a partner in the awards.
Boxing categories at the ceremony were chosen by a separate committee that included Stalin Mau Mau, Patrick Mukondiwa and renowned boxing reporter Gilbert Munetsi.
