Sawu is now the assistant coach.
Sawu recently guided Bulawayo Metropolitan Province into the finals at the National Youth Games before losing to eventual winners Mashonaland West in pulsating final in Bindura.
The Young Warriors are marking a welcome return to the continental football after a long time on the sidelines and they will be hoping to open their account on a good note when they clash against Mozambique next weekend.
Chigova is happy with the progress they have made so far and is confident of registering a comfortable first leg win.
“I am happy with the progress we have made since we trooped into camp this week,” said Chigova.
“There is a lot of talent in our country and this is the right stage to start nurturing these boys while exposing them to these tournaments will give them exposure and confidence.
“We are working with an exciting bunch of young players and the future of our national team looks very bright if these boys are kept together.
“The coming on board of Agent Sawu is an inspiration to these youngsters and it’s a great honour working with him because of his vast experience in the field,” added Chigova.
Sawu is now working with the juniors at the Rising Stars Academy in Bulawayo along with Nkosana Gumbo.
He will be expected to add the vast experience he gained both as a coach and a player. The Young Warriors lost 2-1 to Dynamos U-18 on Thursday in a friendly match at Rufaro and they are set to take on BN Academy as they step up preparations for the Mozambique match.
The players underwent an MRI bone testing procedure this week at the Zifa village.
