SAZ commend Zimbabwean organisations and individual winners at regional quality awards

THE Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) has commended five organisations and one individual for their phenomenal achievements at the 2024/2025 SADC Annual Quality Awards.

The awards honoured organisations and individuals that have shown remarkable work in quality and continuous improvement.

The winners were recognized during the 8th SADC Industrialization week in Antananarivo, Madagascar from July 28 to August 2, 2025.

In a statement on Monday, SAZ Director General, Mr Cosmus Mukoyi said the SADC Quality Awards were part of SAZ’s mission to encourage best practices and promote a culture of continous improvement across industries.

“To date Zimbabwe has received 24 awards over the past 13 years. SAZ on behalf of the Standardization, Quality Assurance and Metrology Committee (SQAM Committee) announces the 2024/2025 SADC Annual Quality Awards winners from Zimbabwe.

“This outstanding achievement marks a significant milestone for the country’s business sector on the regional stage. The victorious companies where Tobacco Processors Zimbabwe (Private) Limited as Second Runner Up in the Company of the Year Large.

Enterprise category and Zimtrade got Certificate of recognition in the Company of the Year Small and Medium Enterprises category,” he said.

“Rhinolite Multipurpose Plaster-Sant Gobain Construction Products was the Winner in the Product of the Year Large Enterprise category, Strike Dishwashing Liquid Formula Chemicals (Private) Limited was the First Runner Up in the Product of the Year Small to Medium Enterprise category, Bitumen World (Private) Limited was the First Runner Up in the Service of the Year Large Enterprise and Mr Tazviona Lois Ngonyamo was the Second Runner up in the Individual of the Year category.”

He said these have demonstrated exceptional commitment to quality management systems, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Mr Mukoyi said their journey to regional recognition began on home soil; all six were winners of the coveted Zimbabwe National Annual Quality Awards in 2024, automatically qualifying them to represent the nation at the SADC level.

“This win is a phenomenal achievement for Zimbabwe. For six out of our seven submitted companies to be honored by SADC is a clear indicator of the high standards and dedication prevalent within our industry. We celebrate wholeheartedly with these deserving winners,” he added.

“This triumph serves as a powerful inspiration for other Zimbabwean businesses. The pathway to such recognition starts nationally. Aspiring companies are encouraged to note that the call for entries for this year’s Zimbabwe National Annual Quality Awards opens on the 16 of June 2025.”

He said winning at the national level was the crucial first step towards potential regional glory at future SADC Awards.

Ministry of Industry and Commerce communications and advocacy deputy director, Mr Coline Dzavakwa also commended all six were winners, stating that quality and professionalism among local businesses ensures they operate sustainably and compete at the international level.

He said quality and standards to ensure the safety and growth of the nation’s industrial and commercial sectors.
