Maskandi duo Aphiwe and Sobancane are eager to return to the Bulawayo stage, setting their sights on one particular event – the highly anticipated Bulawayo Shutdown, scheduled for April.
Posting on their Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon, the Plumtree-based duo wrote: “It has been a long time since we last performed in Bulawayo… The Bulawayo Pacific Shutdown event is happening in April, and if we go to the comments and tag them, saying Maskandi music should be part of it, they might consider us.”
Fans quickly rallied behind the duo, flooding the comment section and tagging event organisers, Harris Lodges Entertainment, urging them to include the artistes in the line-up.
It remains to be seen whether the organisers will heed this call, but if history is anything to go by, fans have a say in shaping the event. During the last edition in December, the much-loved Insimbi ZeZhwane was added to the line-up following public demand.
So far, the confirmed line-up features a blend of local and international talent, including South African stars Zee Nxumalo, DJ Tira, and Major League DJz, alongside Zimbabwean acts Bazooker, DJ Tamuka, DJ Ash T, Killer T, Ricky, Master H, and Enzo Ishall. The event will take place at Queens Sports Grounds.
Will Aphiwe and Sobancane make the cut? Fans will be watching closely.
