SCATTERED thunderstorms with possible hailstorms are expected in some parts of the country this week, with the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) advising the public to take precautionary measures.
In an advisory, the weather forecaster said the impact is expected to be minimal.
“From Tuesday, October 27 afternoon, scattered thunderstorms, with possible hail, are expected over Matabeleland North and South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Midlands, Masvingo and southern parts of Manicaland. On Wednesday, October 28, cool moist south-easterly winds will bring more stable conditions to the southern half of the country, while thunderstorms shift northwards, affecting Harare Metropolitan, northern parts of Manicaland and all Mashonaland provinces through Thursday, October 29, with possible localized heavy downpour” said MSD.
The weather forecaster warned the public to watch out for lightning strikes, flash floods and strong winds.
“Do not stand under a tree or next to a tall pole or object. Avoid sailing in storms and postpone trips if possible. Protect livestock by providing shelter, bedding and adequate feed,” said MSD, urging the public to take precautionary measures.
Daily weather updates will provided through official media channels, added the weather forecaster, calling on the public to heed guidance issued by MSD.
