In our Sunday News edition of 11 February 2018, we published a story headlined “Prophet Ndlovu’s body stuck in Poland”.
In the story, the mother of the late Prophet Sisonke Ndlovu accused a local agent who facilitated the scholarship, Mr Daniel Muzenda of Zim Scholarship Trust of selling the deceased an insurance policy that was disowned by authorities overseas.
Mrs Siphilisiwe Ndlovu claimed the insurance was supposed to cover for her son’s medical expenses and repatriation of the body.
Prophet Ndlovu died early this month in Poland where he was studying Civil and Building Engineering.
However, Mr Muzenda, through his lawyers, Masawi and Partners, last week said sentiments from the deceased’s family concerning the insurance were not true.
“We wish to advise you that the correct position with regards to the $200 (two hundred dollars) (for insurance) is that, it only covers the medical expenses and repatriation for the students when they are travelling to and from their learning institutions abroad, where they would have acquired scholarships.
Once they are based in those countries there is a different medical fund which caters for them in the event of illness and/or death and our client is not responsible for that.”
