A SCHOOL for twins could be opened in Zimbabwe.

It is the brainchild of the Twins Association of Zimbabwe.

TAZ presidents, Farai Lawyer Katonha and Tendai Mayor Katonha, told H-Metro they want to establish a school for twins.

They hosted the Zambian Twins Association representatives at the weekend and exchanged notes.

“The twins in the region are facing similar challenges, especially when it comes to education, gender equality and issues to do with tradition and culture,” said Farai.

“Most twins in the region, including us, are eager to see the construction of schools for twins.

“Our Zambian counterparts were here on a three-day visit to learn more from TAZ.

“They came here to have interactive sessions with local twins and to learn from the Twins Association of Zimbabwe.”

The two sets of Zambian twins – Robert and Misheck Mphawa and Movern and Morgan Mwapu – hailed TAZ for the projects they have established to empower their members.

“We were impressed by TAZ projects that are benefitting several twins here in Zimbabwe,” said Mphawa.

“The atonha twins are working very hard, they are addressing the concerns of the twins and we took a leaf from TAZ.

“Zambian twins will join other nations in attending the International Twins Festival expected to be held in Harare in August,” said Robert Mphawa.

The visit by the twins from Zambia was done after both organisations successfully co-hosted a cultural exchange and tourism event in Kariba in December.
