A MAN from Mt Darwin has been arrested for stealing laptops, cash and groceries from schools and shops in Mashonaland Central.
Three accomplices are still at large.
Some of the stolen laptops were recovered in Harare after Shaudhai Mangava (30) was arrested and he has been cooperating with police to help find where he sold some of the goods.
According to national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, there are 29 complainants in the case.
Mangava and his group would target shopping centres to steal goods worth thousands of dollars.
Police warned that anyone found to be buying stolen goods would be arrested and charged.
“The accused and his three accomplices, who are still at large, were targeting shopping centres where they would steal groceries, solar panels and electrical gadgets.
“On April 28, they stole items at several shopping centres and schools, and got away with goods worth thousands of dollars.
“On July 23, they broke into some shops and stole goods which they sold in Harare where they had a ready market.
“Criminals have been terrorising people in communities because of people who are buying from them,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
