THREE robbers broke into the headmaster’s office of Mutoranhanga Primary School in Karoi at around 1am on Tuesday and stole more than $31 700, disappearing after attacking a security guard with stones.
No arrests have been made and investigations are still in progress.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the money was in two cash boxes. A security guards intercepted the thieves as they left but he was pelted with stones as the thieves fled.
Last month, a thief broke into Mathabo Primary School in Lupane and stole 26 Lenovo tablets worth thousands of dollars.
Eight armed robbers raided Gateway High School in Harare and got away with more than US$250 000 cash after blowing a safe with explosives after blasting their way into the administration offices.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating a case of theft of a motor vehicle which occurred in Bulawayo on Tuesday at about 1pm.
Police said the complainant parked and locked the doors of her grey Toyota Wish vehicle (AEW 6351) along Jason Moyo Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues while going into a bank.
She came back after about an hour and discovered that the car had been stolen.
