School of Mines hosts golf tournament

A FUNDRAISING golf tournament as well as cocktail for the Zimbabwe School of Mines (ZMS) will be held at Harry Allen Golf Club on Saturday. 

With an individual staple ford format, the purpose of the fundraising is to source funds for the retooling of the academic laboratories at ZSM. The ZSM requires modern training equipment for all of its laboratories to meet its mandate of producing relevant and hands-on technicians for the Sadc mining industry. 

Organisers of the fundraiser said their goal is to come up with $550 000 for the first phase of retooling of the ZSM training laboratories.

“A maximum of 120 players are expected to participate at RTGS$200 for individuals sponsored players and for corporate sponsored teams USD$150 equivalent at interbank rate. There is also an opportunity to advertise your company on strategic points within the golf course or around the club house at a fee. We also have an auction of items at the prize giving ceremony,’’ the event organisers said. 

The deadline for the registration of teams was last Friday with the event expected to provide an excellent opportunity to network with mining executives, mining suppliers and related service providers. 

Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines president, Elizabeth Nerwande-Chibanda will grace the fundraising golf tournament and cocktail.
