TWELVE secondary schools from across Bulawayo Province are battling for the sole ticket to represent the province at the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) Betterbrands-sponsored Under-20 national finals during a fiercely contested tournament at Gifford High School on Thursday.
The competition has brought together some of the city’s top school teams, with players showcasing their talent in pursuit of provincial honours and a place at the national championships, which will be held in Harare later this year.
Schools taking part in the provincial finals are Induna High, Mpopoma High, Eastview High, Montgomery High, Prestige High, hosts Gifford High, Nkulumane High, Pumula South High, Pumula High, Founders High and Magwegwe High School.
The tournament has attracted enthusiastic support from teachers, parents and fellow pupils, who turned out in large numbers to cheer on their respective schools.
NASH officials said the tournament provides an important platform for identifying and nurturing young sporting talent while promoting healthy competition, discipline and teamwork among learners.
The winning school will earn the right to represent Bulawayo Province at the national finals in Harare, where it will compete against provincial champions from across Zimbabwe for the coveted national title.
