THE 2019 edition of the Edgars Under-14 Primary Schools Cricket Championship starts in Bulawayo today.

The two-day tournament will be held at Tigers Cricket Academy and will feature 22 teams at six venues, which include Magwegwe, Baines, Mtshingwe, Helemu, Mafakela and Gampu Primary schools.

Tigers Cricket Academy chief executive officer Tawanda Muchechete said: “Everything is set for the tournament and the games are starting at 8am, with 22 teams competing. Teams will play in a knockout format, with those coming tops at each venue set to compete in the final at Magwegwe Primary School.”

He said the tournament will be used to select a provincial team to compete in a national competition to be staged at Bulawayo Athletic Club on Friday.
